What Is PLR?

PLR is short for Private Label Rights. These can be articles or ebooks you purchase or are given for free to use “as is” or you can re-write. Depending on where you get your PLR, there are different “rights” so be sure to read the license that comes with your purchase or give away before using.  Some allow you to claim yourself as the author, some don’t. Some allow you to alter content, others don’t, so it is important to read the license that comes with anything you download before using.

The reasons for using PLR are many.

* PLR makes it easy to create many articles for your websites or blogs quickly.

* PLR can be used “as is” for quick niche sites, but it is recommended to rewrite as much as possible due to the fact that so many others are also receiving the same PLR articles as well.  While there are some who do use PLR “as is” and create mini niche sites and do well with them,  the majority of website owners do rewrite most PLR.

* PLR can be used as “ideas” to get you started on writing your own articles for submitting to article directories.  PLR cannot be used “as is” when submitting to article directories, they must be rewritten, but are a good start in getting ideas for your own articles.

* PLR can be used to create mini E-Books by batching together similar articles into a mini book which you can then give away on your site or sell.

*PLR can be used in an auto responder as a series of emails as part of a membership or “how to” articles which you send out weekly to your list members.

The possiblities for using PLR are endless. But where do you get it? Do you join membership sites? Some do enjoy the membership sites, while others like the option of only purchasing what they need. There are pros and cons to both which I will go over and also review the options each have to offer.

There is so much out there, and even some free sites as well.  The only problem with “free” is you do have to watch the quality. If you are trying to build a web presence, you want your content to be well written, and some of the PLR out there may not be up to the quality you may want.

So, next we will look at some of the options we have in getting PLR for our blogs, websites and for submitting to article directories.
